Dr. Mark Kovacs is a globally recognized performance physiologist, coach, and researcher specializing in tennis-specific training and athlete development.
As the Executive Director and co-founder of the International Tennis Performance Association (iTPA), he has been instrumental in advancing education and certification in tennis fitness, performance, and injury prevention worldwide
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Kovacs was a top junior player and later became an All-American and NCAA doubles champion at Auburn University. After a stint on the professional tour, he earned his Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Alabama
Dr. Kovacs has held prominent roles, including Director of Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, and Coaching Education at the USTA, and Director of the Gatorade Sport Science Institute. He has worked with elite athletes across various sports, including tennis professionals like John Isner, Sloane Stephens, and Frances Tiafoe.
An accomplished author and educator, Dr. Kovacs has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and authored books such as Dynamic Stretching and Tennis Training: Enhancing On-Court Performance. He is also the founder of the Kovacs Institute, focusing on applying cutting-edge science to optimize human performance.
In recognition of his contributions, he received the International Tennis Hall of Fame Educational Merit Award in 2012, becoming the youngest recipient in history
