PTCA Programs

PTCA-Academy will continously provide its members with offers of basic education programs and up-date courses. PTCA-Academy are accrediting various educational institutes who are accredited to give tution in the fields of interest of the PTCA.

  1. Sports medicine for International Tennis Coaches (to be able to communicate to doctors and physiotherapist and neuromuscular doctors)
  2. Nutritional Physiology for International Tennis Coaches (to be able to communicate to doctors and nutritionist)
  3. Fitness Training for International Tennis Coaches (to be able to communicate to fitness coaches)
  4. Tennistechnique for International Fitness Coaches (to be able to communicate to fitness coaches)
  5. Sports Psychology for International Tennis Coaches
  6. ATP / WTA / ITF – Rules and Regulations
  7. Special courses for PTCA-coaches that needs education in a certain area, a.e. children club tennis. These programs are especially for PTCA-coaches that want to change the working situation, a.e. be a club or academy coach.

History

PTCA is a, non-for-profit NGO (non-governmental organization) founded by world class ATP and WTA Coaches in 2011 and launched during the French Open Tournament in Paris in 2011.

PTCA has its seat in Luxemburg. PTCA registers and accredits its members in special areas of skills like coaching, sports medicine and fitness training.

Since its launch the PTCA has gathered a member community of more than 300 highly qualified professional coaches including many former grand slam champions and coaches that have demonstrated their skills and experience in success of their players at world class level.

Being a member of the PTCA is more than being member in an exclusive club. It is a permanent commitment to the values of the sports of tennis and to passing on these values, our experience and our vision to tomorrow’s generation of professional coaches.

§ 1 Name – Headquarters and field activities

  1. The name of the Association is Professional Tennis Coaches Association (PTCA)
  2. The headquarters of the Association are located at CK Sportcenter, 20, route de Bettembourg, L- 1899 Kockelscheuer and it extends its activities worldwide.
  3. The establishment of subsidiaries or branch associations is not intended.

§ 2 Purpose of the Association

  1. The main goal of the PTCA is the creation of an advocacy platform, which is intended to promote the professional, intellectual and friendly relationships between international coaches, physiotherapists and individuals in medical professions related to sports.

PTCA Code of Ethics

As a PTCA member, you strive to be the best coaching professional you can. You shall fulfill the obligations of being an upstanding and honest citizen. To your students, to your community, and to the tennis coaching community at large, you will try to be a role model. All PTCA members are expected to maintain and observe a sound base of moral integrity and exemplify the highest ideals of our profession. It is understood that each and every coach member of the PTCA accepts and agrees to follow the PTCA Code of Ethics.

PTCA requires absolute adherence to the following Code of Ethics

PTCA-Coaches shall:

  1. Bring credit to the tennis profession, and shall exhibit professionalism in all of their words and actions.
  2. Be sportsmanlike and honest at all times, behave in a professional manner both on and off the court and exemplify the highest standards of moral character.
  3. Honor all professional relationships with their colleagues, and shall treat their colleagues with great respect and dignity.
  4. Meet their financial responsibilities promptly and honor their contracts.
  5. Act in full accordance with institutional, conference and national governing body rules, and shall report any violation of governing body rules.

PTCA Academy

What is the PTCA Academy?

Launched in 2011 in Paris during the French Open the PTCA has for the first time introduced quality standards for accessing the profession of a professional tennis coach. More than fourteen years into its existence, PTCA is now ready to launch the second stage of its accreditation program which allows members to gain recognition and be licensed for specialized skills and competences in several disciplines and areas of competence.

For this purpose the PTCA has established the PTCA Academy Accreditation and License Program.

Taking part in the PTCA Academy accreditation and licensing Process is a voluntary decision made by each member and institution. It offers members and affiliated institutions a platform for developing their skills and competences in their pursuit of excellence and makes these efforts and skills internationally recognized.

Objectives

The PTCA Academy Accreditation Program does not aim to harmonize national educational systems but rather to provide tools to connect and mutually recognize them.
